Description

Join the Molly Brown House Museum and our community partner, the Denver Woman’s Press Club for the first 2019 Salon Series community conversation.

We will kick off the series with an exploration of the origins of International Women’s Day (March 8th), which dates back to 1909 when thousands of American trade union women went on strike for better working conditions in New York’s garment industry. This historical movement ties directly into the IWD 2019 campaign theme, #BalanceforBetter, exploring the importance of gender balance in building a better world.

Starting at 5:30 at the historic Denver Woman’s Press Clubhouse at 1325 Logan Street, we’ll enjoy refreshments and brief presentation on the inspiring working women’s movement in the early 1900s, nationally and in Denver. Then we’ll “march” over one block to the Molly Brown House Museum at 1340 Pennsylvania Street where we’ll learn about Margaret Brown’s vision for women’s equality and continue the lively discussion.

Stay tuned via www.mollybrown.org, or follow us on social media for information on the remaining Salon Series events for 2019 to be held on May 9; July 11; Sept. 5; and Nov. 14. As always, these events are free and open to the public.

This event is free to the public but you must register to attend. The portion of the event taking place at tne Museum will be on the 3rd floor, which is accessible via stairs only.
